Ha ha - your url got me I saw oldest city and thought Aleppo, Syria or at least Rome, Italy -sorry anywhere in the New World doensn't come close!
St. Augustine was the best trip I had ever been on. The whole feeling of being there is kind of erie even in the day time. It's not bad erie, but just thinking of all the history that went on around town. Like the Fountain of Youth oh man that was cool. Seeing the stones lined up in the form of a cross to signify 1513 the year that Ponce de Leon had been there. Potters Museum that place was really erie. I suggest that if you go there you wait until it's not busy to get the effect of someone watching you from behind some of the statues... that was great. And pirates I mean come on man how cool is it to know that pirates had been there? I plan to go back real soon. Thanks for the article. I would give it 4 thumbs up if I could.
Enjoyed your hub, as it brought back many memories. We used to visit St. Augustine somewhat regularly - always to the historic, fascinating old fort that guarded the coastline under many flags - Castillo de San Marcos (even saw a small shark in its moat one time) - and a walk down the streets of the restored Old Town. Very interesting artifacts and articles. Every shop was an instructive and visual delight in and of itself. When my son was young, we combined some trips with the cross marking the landing, the Anastasia Light House, and... you guessed it... the St. Augustine Alligator Farm! How about that huge croc, Gomak?
I love the historic aspect of cities and there heritage. You did a great job with this hub.
